A North Wales holiday park has won a Wales in Bloom Gold Award.
Abergele-based Ty Gwyn received the coveted honour at a special ceremony in Talgarth, Powys.
Winning the Gold Award was a team effort for Ty Gwyn with staff and caravan owners contributing to the success.
Highlights of the Wales in Bloom entry included wildflower areas with butterfly, bird and bug houses and new flower beds including an eye-catching Pyramid bed. Another feature was sunflowers that had been grown by some of the caravan owners.
Further highlights included new tree planting across the holiday park, a new herb patch for customers of the on-site restaurant, The Peacock Lounge, to enjoy and a sunflower competition.
Ty Gwyn’s award submission also covered various sustainability initiatives that the park has undertaken. They include a 35kw solar array on the park’s outbuildings which provide renewable energy to customers, the use of LED lights for energy saving and two electric vehicle charging points, providing a charge of up to 22kw for two cars on each point.
Ty Gwyn is a third-generation family business and is recognised as one of the oldest holiday parks in the UK.
It is the second consecutive year that the holiday park has won the Gold Award.
Angharad Owen, a director of Ty Gwyn, said: “We are thrilled to have won the Gold Award.
“It is a tribute to the hard work, skill and enthusiasm of our dedicated team at Ty Gwyn and the support of our caravan owners.
“Our goal is to create beautiful surroundings for the Ty Gwyn community to enjoy and to continue implementing a range of sustainability initiatives across the site.”
